Right of the patients

At Kavya Hospital, we understand that healthcare is not just about providing medical treatment but also about offering hope and support during challenging times. When a loved one is seriously ill or injured, the trust placed in our doctors and healthcare professionals is paramount. As part of our commitment to transparency and patient-centered care, we believe it is essential for patients and their families to be aware of their rights. These rights ensure that every patient receives the highest standard of care, respect, and dignity throughout their treatment journey.

As a hospital, we serve as a beacon of hope for patients and their families. When loved ones are seriously ill or injured, our primary focus is on providing the best care. We believe every patient deserves to be fully informed and treated with respect. Here are the rights that every patient should be aware of:

1. Right to Information
Patients are entitled to receive complete information about their condition. This includes details about the diagnosis, investigations, and potential complications. If a patient is unable to understand the information, the physician or medical staff will provide the details to the patient’s caretaker.

2. Right to Records and Reports
Patients or their authorized attendants have the right to access the original copies of case papers, patient records, and investigation reports. These reports are typically available within 24 hours of patient admission.

3. Right to Informed Consent
Before any surgery or medical procedure is performed, the physician in charge must provide a full explanation of the risks, complications, and expected outcomes. The patient or their caretaker must sign a consent form before the procedure.

4. Right to Non-Discrimination
Every patient has the right to receive care without discrimination based on personal characteristics, including gender, race, religion, or socioeconomic status. No patient should face discriminatory treatment at any stage.

5. Right to Choose Alternative Treatment
Patients have the right to be informed about all available treatment options. If alternative treatments are available, patients or their caretakers can choose them, understanding that they are responsible for the consequences of their decision.

6. Right to a Second Opinion
Patients are encouraged to seek a second opinion from another doctor or hospital. If you choose to consult another healthcare provider, Kavya Hospital will ensure that all necessary records and documents are transferred to the new doctor.

7. Right to Referral and Transfer
If a patient needs to be transferred to another health center, the hospital must provide a detailed justification for the transfer. The patient will also receive a list of medications and treatments needed after the transfer. The decision to transfer should not be influenced by commissions, incentives, or other business practices.

8. Right to Discharge and Handling of Deceased Patients
Patients have the right to be discharged once their medical treatment is complete. If a patient passes away, the caretaker has the right to receive the body after all medical procedures have been completed.

9. Right to Patient Education
Patients and their caretakers should be informed about the following:

  • Facts about the patient’s condition
  • Healthy living practices
  • Their rights and responsibilities
  • Relevant health schemes and events related to their care

At Kavya Hospital, we are committed to providing compassionate care and ensuring that every patient is fully informed of their rights. If you have any questions or concerns about your rights, please do not hesitate to reach out to our staff.
